A New Electric Luxury Sedan Set to Enter the Indian Market
Luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz has officially opened bookings for the new Mercedes-Benz CLA in India, marking another major step in the company’s growing electric vehicle lineup. Interested customers can now reserve the vehicle by paying a booking amount of ₹1.5 lakh, with deliveries expected to begin in April. The new CLA aims to bring together premium design, advanced electric technology, and impressive driving range, making it one of the most anticipated luxury EV launches in the country this year.
Two Variants Designed for Different Driving Needs
The new CLA will be available in two variants – the CLA 250+ Long Range and the CLA 200 Standard Range. According to the company, the Standard Range variant was introduced to offer a more accessible entry point for buyers who want to experience luxury electric mobility without stretching their budget too far. Meanwhile, the Long Range version is designed for those who prioritize extended driving range and performance.
Impressive Driving Range and Performance
One of the biggest highlights of the new CLA is its remarkable range. The CLA 250+ Long Range variant is expected to deliver up to around 792 km of range on a full charge under the WLTP testing cycle, placing it among the longest-range electric sedans in its segment. On the other hand, the CLA 200 Standard Range offers an estimated driving range of around 542 km, which should be more than sufficient for daily commuting as well as occasional long-distance travel.
Faster Charging with Advanced EV Technology
The electric sedan is built on an advanced 800-volt architecture, allowing significantly faster charging compared to many conventional electric vehicles. Using a 240 kW DC fast charger, the CLA 250+ can reportedly gain nearly 400 km of range in just about 20 minutes of charging. This quick charging capability makes the car more practical for long journeys and helps reduce range anxiety for EV owners.
Premium Features and Signature Mercedes Design
Apart from its electric performance, the CLA continues the brand’s tradition of offering luxury and technology. The Standard Range variant is expected to come with Progressive Line styling, comfortable seating, and a multifunction sports leather steering wheel. Meanwhile, the Long Range version will feature a sportier AMG-inspired design. Both versions are likely to share most of the same features, ensuring a premium driving experience regardless of the chosen variant.
Expected Pricing and Market Position
While official prices will be announced at the time of launch, industry estimates suggest that the CLA 200 Standard Range could be priced around ₹55 lakh, while the CLA 250+ Long Range may cost close to ₹59 lakh (ex-showroom). With these price points, the new CLA is expected to compete strongly in India’s premium electric sedan segment.
Strengthening Mercedes-Benz’s EV Presence in India
With its sleek coupe-like design, long range, and advanced technology, the new CLA highlights Mercedes-Benz’s commitment to electric mobility in India. As the demand for premium EVs continues to grow, the CLA could become an important model for the brand, attracting buyers who want a combination of sustainability, performance, and luxury in one stylish package.
