South Korean car manufacturer Kia Motors India launched its new electric car The Kia EV9 in the global market in March 2023 and is preparing to hein it to India. This is a 7- 7-seater full-size electric SUV. It has been developed on the same platform as the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5, both available for sale in India. The most notable point is that the price of the car in the Indian market could be between ₹80 lakh to ₹1 crore. The design of the Kia EV9 electric SUV is quite attractive. It features futuristic design elements such as integrated digital pattern lighting in the grille, star map lighting, LED DRLs, and a vertically aligned headlight setup, creating an animated lighting pattern. The rear of the EV9 also follows the same design language, including vertical LED taillights and an extended roof spoiler.
The Kia EV9 is 5,015 millimetres long, 1,980 millimetres wide, and 1,780 millimetres tall, with a wheelbase size of 3,100 millimetres. The EV9 showcased at the BIMS 2024 event featured 21-inch alloy wheels, indicating that this might be the GT Line all-heel – Drive (AWD) variant. This vehicle will come with a 99.9 kWh battery and dual motors producing 379 bhp and 700 Nm of torque. It offers a range of 445 km, can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 5.3 seconds, and has a top speed of 200km/h. With a 350 kWh charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes. Additionally, Kia might also provide a home wall box charger at the time of its launch in India. The EV9 will be made a fully feature-loaded car, which raises expectations that these features will also be available in the upcoming electric Carens, expected to launch in the first half of 2025.
