Revved Up for the Future: Tata Punch EV Facelift Gets Bigger Battery and Extended Range
The Tata Motors Punch EV has been one of India’s most popular micro-SUV electric cars, known for its practical size, peppy performance, and everyday usability. Now, with the launch of the facelifted version in 2026, Tata has given the Punch EV a meaningful update that promises stronger performance, smarter engineering, and a more confident driving range, the very ingredients that buyers in the entry-level EV segment crave.
One of the biggest talking points around the facelifted Punch EV is its battery pack options. Tata continues with the familiar two battery configurations: a 25 kWh pack for the standard variant and a 35 kWh pack for the long-range version. These setups deliver competitive claimed MIDC range figures, with the larger pack pushing around 421 km of claimed range, giving urban commuters and weekend travellers alike plenty of confidence behind the wheel.
But Tata isn’t stopping there. There are strong whispers within the automotive world suggesting that a bigger battery option possibly in the 40 kWh-45 kWh bracket could be introduced either at launch or in the near future. Such an upgrade would directly boost real-world driving range and make the Punch EV facelift even more compelling for buyers looking for longer intercity drives without frequent charging breaks.
In terms of performance, Tata hasn’t radically changed the powertrain. The standard battery continues to generate a lively 82 hp and 114 Nm of torque, while the long-range version’s punchier 122 hp and 190 Nm setup keeps acceleration brisk and enjoyable. Charging flexibility remains strong too; the Punch EV supports both AC home and public chargers, and DC fast charging capability means getting from 10 % to 80 % in well under an hour is possible, keeping downtime low for EV owners who are always on the move.
The facelift isn’t purely about the battery and range Tata has given the Punch EV a fresher exterior and interior, improved tech features and even teased upgrades like a lifetime battery warranty, signalling confidence in the car’s long-term performance. Combined with the promise of improved efficiency and real-world usability, this updated Punch EV stands out as a stronger contender in India’s rapidly expanding electric vehicle market.
As buyers step into showrooms and compare options, the updated battery pack choices and range capabilities will be among the first things that draw attention and for a segment that values practicality as much as innovation, Tata seems poised to keep the Punch EV relevant for the years ahead.
