
Kia Carens Clavis is the only model in the 7-seater MPV segment below Rs 20 lakh to come with a diesel engine in India
Kia India recently announced the price of All-New Carrance Clavis MPV in the country. Due to the range of Rs 11.50–21.50 lakhs, it is available with two petrol and one diesel engine, with manual as well as automatic broadcasting. Kia Carrence Clavis has been introduced in the Indian market in 6- and 7-seater configurations. The domestic market will have a fierce face-off of MPV with the choice of Maruti Ertiga and Toyota Roomian. In this piece, we will analyze the detailed value of Kia Carrence Clavis MPV in India.
Starting with naturally aspirated 1.5L petrol engine, it is available in 7-seater layouts with only 6-speed manual gearbox. It will be introduced only in three entry-level variants, named HTE, HTE (O) and HTK, while the price between Rs 11.50–13.50 lakhs (ex-showroom). If we compare these prices to Ertiga and Ramian, which starts at Rs 8.96 lakh and Rs 10.54 lakh respectively, then Kia Cares Clavis is still the most expensive model in its segment.
Going into a 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine, it gets three transmission options in the 7-seater configuration as a 6-speed manual, 6-speed IMT and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic units. While the manual variant is priced between Rs 13.40–19.40 lakhs, the IMT gearbox can only be obtained for Rs 18.70 lakh and Rs 19.70 lakh with HTX and HTX+ trims respectively.

Powertrain and Performance
One of the strongest aspects of the Kia Carens Clavis is its flexible engine lineup, designed to suit both performance lovers and efficiency seekers.
Engine Options:
- 1.5L NA Petrol – 115 PS and 144 Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual or iMT
- 1.5L Turbo Petrol – 160 PS and 253 Nm, mated to a 7-speed DCT or iMT
- 1.5L Diesel CRDi – 116 PS and 250 Nm, available with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed AT
The turbocharged petrol and diesel variants provide the punch necessary for highway cruising and long-distance family trips, while the naturally aspirated petrol variant remains a favorite for city commutes and daily driving. The inclusion of iMT and DCT options also adds to the vehicle’s convenience quotient.
Design and Exterior Highlights
Kia has taken a bold step forward with the Clavis’ design, aiming to blend practicality with panache. The Carens Clavis features a few noticeable upgrades compared to the regular Carens.

The 7-speed DCT auto transmission is presented in three grades at a price of Rs 16.90 lakh, Rs 17.70 lakh and Rs 21.50 lakh in HTK+, HTK+ (O) and HTX+ respectively. Just you know, Kia Carrens Clavis HTX+ is the most expensive version in the entire line-up. The 1.5L turbo petrol engine is also sold in 6-speed manual, 6-speed IMT and 7-speed DCT automated units in HTX+ Trim in 6-seater layouts, respectively for Rs 19.40 lakh, Rs 19.70 lakh and Rs 21.50 lakhs. It has a straight competition with Maruti Suzuki XL6 that has been retailed through Nexa premium outlets. The 6-seater MPV from Maruti is priced between Rs 11.83-14.83 lakhs, which is much lower than the Careers Clavis 6-seater model.
Last but not at least, Kia Caure Clavis is also rolled out with a 1.5L diesel engine in the 7-seater configuration. Only 6-speed manual unit is available, it is priced between Rs 13.50-19.50 lakhs. It has no direct or indirect rival in the Indian market as all other MPV models such as Maruti Ertiga and Toyota rumions are not available. Even the base diesel variant of Toyota Innova Crysta is priced at Rs 19.99 lakh, which is much higher than this.
