German carmaker Volkswagen unveiled its entry-level electric vehicle (EV), the ID.Every1, on Wednesday, aiming to target the mass market in Europe. This concept car marks the company’s first attempt at offering an all-electric model designed to be affordable for a wide range of consumers.
Volkswagen AG, which rose to global prominence with its iconic Beetle, an affordable model for the masses, is now looking to replicate that success in the electric vehicle market. With the ID.Every1, the company is seeking to make EVs accessible to even more people, tapping into the growing demand for affordable and eco-friendly transportation. This move aligns with Volkswagen’s strategy to become a leader in the electric vehicle space, offering a budget-friendly option that appeals to mainstream customers.
Volkswagen has announced that the production version of the ID.Every1 will be launched in 2027. This model will follow the launch of the ID. 2all, which is set to debut in 2026
Volkswagen has revealed that the price of its most affordable electric vehicle, the ID.Every1, will start at around €25,000, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious consumers. This pricing is set to make the ID.Every1 even more affordable than the ID. 2all, which is also expected to be priced at around €25,000. By positioning the ID.Every1 at this price point, Volkswagen aims to capture a larger share of the mass-market EV segment, offering an entry-level electric model that is accessible to a wide range of customers.
The Volkswagen ID.Every1 concept vehicle has a top speed of 130 km/h and is powered by a newly developed electric drive motor that delivers 70 kW (95 PS). Targeted primarily at the European market, Volkswagen plans to focus its sales strategy for the ID.Every1 on Europe, as reported by Reuters quoting the company’s brand chief.
The production version of the ID Every1 will sit on a modified version of the new front-wheel-drive MEB Entry platform, which has been developed for the forthcoming ID 2, ID 2X, Cupra Raval and Skoda Epiq. Those models will all be built at the Seat factory in Martorell, Spain, with prices for the ID 2 starting from around £21,000 (Rs 21.40 lakh)
